I think I am not the only one with this problem. Maybe someone has been able to resolve this.
We "inherited" a tenant when we bought our house a couple of years ago; the rent was paid by CMHA and ODSP. After major issues with the tenant this spring and summer, we finally got an order for ending the tenancy "on or before November 30". The tenant is still in the unit.
However, the CMHA and ODSP have not paid rent for 3 months. We had no idea what was happening.
It turned out ODSP has started paying the money to the tenant (without notifying us) and, in their opinion, they have no obligation to us. If we go after the tenant, there is nothing to collect, the tenant has no wages.
CMHA has so far avoided us and the issue.
Any ideas? The first advice I got was to forget about the rent, suing the tenant would not help.
