In the current environment in Ontario with a one sided LTB, making short term rentals illegal will NOT contribute in any numbers to more rentals. NOBODY wants to have long term tenants right now. Now if the powers that be make for efficient quick evictions, an open rent market and policies that landlord can recoup losses from bad tenants, then we will see a dramatic change. These changes would help good tenants and landlords and put bad tenants and landlords out of the market.
