Breaking: Ford Gov't Seriously Considering "Alberta-Style" No Rent Control!

#1 Unread post by rentingforayear » October 10th, 2018, 4:13 pm

Today the big developers had a meeting with OREA president Tim Hudak and Ford government officials at the Toronto Board of Trade conference rooms. They are calling for eliminating ALL rent controls. The 'experts' are saying this would lead to ore investment increasing supply and this would lead to lower rents in Toronto.

The are seriously considering the "Alberta model" for Ontario!

-an annual increase guideline

-set rents as high as you want between fixed term lease dates renewals

-kick tenants out if they refuse to pay whatever the landlord demands at the end of a lease!

This will be a disaster for tenants!
