@ Skitter

The Board of Directors met over the weekend and we discussed the issues you raised. We've decided to remove the following requirements:
  • the credit verification cannot contain a bankruptcy within the last 7 years
  • the rent cannot exceed 30% of the total household income before taxes.
We've updated our website with information on what is required to sell an order to us.

We agreed that, although we are not held to the same standards by the OHRC, it can place landlords in an awkward position to comply with our requirements.

im very impressed!

you have an understanding of the difficulties ontario's small landlords face.

Your policy change will make it much easier for small landlords to work with you.

Me too. I like the way the company is listening to us and taking our concerns seriously. This way, they will offer a really tested product.

Countersue.
Get the report from the fire department which will most likely show that the tenant left the burner on after he was done cooking and then fell asleep.
20 year old stoves don't catch fire. My Dad's was pushing 45 when he finally replaced it. Old ones actually work better than the newer models.
As you said, "What if a tenant starts a fire using the stove". Well, the tenant started the fire. Using the stove. Get the report. And prove it.
