I'm Fine With The BC Rules

This is my personal opinion.

I'm a property investor and landlord in British Columbia.

Things are pretty good and much better than many other provinces

1. Damage Deposit

In BC we can charge a damage deposit. Of course right? But did you know in Ontario it is illegal!!!!

If you charge it and the tenants agree.....they can move in, call the Ontario tenacy branch and you will be forced to give it back to the Tenants!

2. Pet Deposit

We can get a pet deposit in BC and refuse pets. But did you know it's illegal to get a pet deposit in Ontario! And you can't refuse pets!

Tenants can even say they don't have pets.....then just bring pets in when the people move in!

3. Evicting Renters Who Don't Pay Rent

It's a little too slow in BC, but did you know in Ontario it can take a YEAR just to go to their Tenancy Branch! And then renters can play the system and delay another year!


The really only unfair thing in BC is we need to do Airbnbs again IMO.
